Diffuse inverse Compton and synchrotron emission from dark matter annihilations in galactic satellites
Annihilating dark matter particles produce roughly as much power in electrons and positrons as in gamma ray photons. The charged particles lose essentially all of their energy to inverse Compton and synchrotron processes in the galactic environment. We discuss the diffuse signature of dark matter annihilations in satellites of the Milky Way (which may be optically dark with few or no stars), pr...
متن کاملThe 408 MHz B 3 . 2 survey
We present a new 408MHz survey (B3.2) carried out with the “Croce del Nord” radiotelescope in Bologna. The survey coordinates limits are −2◦00′ to +2◦15′ in Dec. and 21h to 24h, 00h to 17h in R.A., equivalent to 0.388 sr. The B3.2 is complete to 0.15 Jy but many sources down to 0.1 Jy are included. Our aim was to select a new and complete sample of Ultra Steep Spectrum (USS) radio sources, as t...
متن کاملThe impact of Galactic synchrotron emission on CMB anisotropy measurements
Context. Galactic foreground emission fluctuations are a limiting factor for precise cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy measurements. Aims. We intend to improve current estimates of the influence of Galactic synchrotron emission on the analysis of CMB anisotropies. Methods. We perform an angular power spectrum analysis (APS) of all-sky total intensity maps at 408 MHz and 1420 MHz, whi...
متن کاملDiffuse Galactic Emission from Spinning Dust Grains
Spinning interstellar dust grains produce detectable rotational emission in the 10-100 GHz frequency range. We calculate the emission spectrum, and show that this emission can account for the " anomalous " Galactic background component which correlates with 100 µm thermal emission from dust. Implications for cosmic background studies are discussed.
متن کاملDiffuse gamma-ray emission: Galactic and extra- galactic
Here is reviewed our current understanding of Galactic and extragalactic diffuse γ-ray emission. The spectrum of the extragalactic γ-ray background above 30 MeV can be well described by a power law with photon index α=2.1. In the 2-10 MeV range a preliminary analysis of COMPTEL data indicates a lower intensity than previously found, with no evidence for an MeV bump. Most of the models of a trul...
